Zeiss is world famous lens manufacturer and they have introduced Touit series lenses to the Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless camera. What about the E-mount full frame mirrorless camera the A7 series that had been introduced by Sony in year 2013?
Finally, Zeiss has introduced the new series of lenses to the Sony full-frame mirrorless E-mount camera — the Loxia lens!
Highlights of the lenses:
- Mechanical Manual Focus (Rotation angle of approximately 180 degrees)
- Mechanical Aperture Control
- Minimum focus distance of 0.3m (Loxia 35mm) and 0.37m (Loxia 50mm)
- Large aperture opening of F 2
- Weather seal at lens mount point
- Metal lens barrel
- Filter diameter of 52mm
One important note here is the Zeiss Loxia lenses are intentionally designed to be manual focus lenses. This result in a more compact lens body but also means we have to do all the focusing properly by ourselves.
Well, Zeiss lenses are not cheap as expected. The Loxia 35mm RRP will be USD1,299 and Loxia 50mm RRP will be USD 949 while the 50mm will be available in end of October of 2014 and the 35mm will be available in the end of the fourth quarter of 2014. You may get more details about the Loxia lenses from the Zeiss website .
Are you going to grab one of them for your Sony A7/A7R/A7S? Or even for your other E-mount mirrorless camera? Welcome to share your interest and thoughts about the Loxia lenses here. Cheers.
